An exceptional Arts & Crafts design carpet woven in Northwest Iran, dating to the late 19th–early 20th century (circa 1880–1920), and clearly inspired by the work of C. F. A. Voysey.

The carpet is hand-knotted in handspun wool and colored with natural vegetable dyes, reflecting traditional Persian weaving practices combined with Western design influence. The composition features a repeating all-over lattice of stylized floral and foliate motifs, arranged in a balanced, symmetrical framework and enclosed within a complementary border.

The design demonstrates hallmark characteristics of the Arts & Crafts movement—notably flattened, stylized botanical forms, rhythmic repetition, and a harmonious, restrained palette of soft blues, greens, and muted pinks. These elements closely relate to Voysey’s aesthetic, known for its clarity of form and refined naturalism.

This piece represents an important cross-cultural synthesis, where Persian craftsmanship meets European design reform ideals, produced for export markets or cosmopolitan clientele during a period of strong artistic exchange.

Its balanced composition and soft, versatile palette make it perfectly suited for both traditional and contemporary interiors.
