Late 19th Century Northwest Persian Rug. An exceptional and highly decorative antique Northwest Persian rug dating to the late 19th century. The rug features a finely drawn Herati field, rendered with excellent clarity and balanced spacing, centered by a bold, stylized medallion that anchors the composition. Particularly noteworthy is the unusual paisley-design main border, an uncommon and visually striking element that sets this piece apart from more conventional examples of the region. The border is beautifully articulated with fluid movement and rich coloration, complementing the intricacy of the field. The palette displays harmonious tones of deep reds, soft blues, and earthy neutrals, characteristic of quality Northwest Persian weaving of the period. Overall, this is a distinctive and attractive antique rug with strong decorative appeal and character.
