This is a circa 1890 Northwest Persian Bijar “Kelleh” (Kelleghi) rug, finely woven and notable for its use of undyed camelhair wool in the field—a desirable and traditional feature of older Bijar Garrous  village production. The design centers on an elongated herati-pattern medallion set within a spacious camel-colored field, flanked by complementary pendants at both ends.

The surrounding spandrels and borders display a rich palette of brick reds, indigo blues, soft greens, and ivory, consistent with late-19th-century vegetable-dyed Bijar weaving. Multiple borders frame the composition, including a classic reciprocal vine and rosette main border filled with stylized floral motifs, enhancing the rug’s visual depth and tribal character.

The robust wool pile, dense foundation structure, and balanced geometric-floral ornamentation exemplify the durability and artistry for which antique Bijar rugs of this period are highly regarded.
